Me. Editob: The Register of a recent date said : " As the stornis of winter are about subsiding, aud the time for settled weather approa hes, the prospecfs for a speedy completion oí the Toledo, Ann Arbor and Northern Railroud . Wiü anybody complete thia seutence f" The Alteras of the 2d inst. tried to complete it, by saying the prospecte " ought to be good." I say that they must be good, aud I will be one of ñlty to make up 825, 0Ü0 to present to any parties who may finish the road and put it iu running order from here to Toledo, or in other words, one of fitty to give $600 each whea the cars ehall be running irom here to Toledo over the Toledo, Ann Arborand Northern Railroad. The Abgus has given reasons euough why the road soould be built. However, It has got the price of as good soft coal as there is delivered in Toledo at least 80 cents per ton too íiigli, as it is selling in Columbus, delivered in cellar or bin, at $1 89 per ton. I would almost guarantee coal delivered iu this eity at $3 per ton, and 1 think I could gt my Í500 back in eight years by the saving in the price of fuel alone. And this is but one advantage oí the railroad. Another is, that it would give us a cornpeting line to the East, a direct outlet to the great State of ühio, and at Toledo our farmors would üud one of ihe largest grain markets in the world. It is not a North and South Road, but essentially an East and West line. I belíeve that our populatíou would increase from three to five huudred the first year after completiou, and some think that at least fiíty ramilies would move here from Toledo alone, ;o edúcate their children, and become permanent residents. There are many other reasons why the people of Ann Arbor should not rest intil we have the cars running to Toledo, and ;here is no ueed of waiting beyond the tirstday of July next for the first train. Let those interested start and complete the subscription. And as we nuud not pav the money until the road is built and cars commenee their daily trips, none of us need loa a cent he gives.
