Pursuant to cali a meeting oí the Washtenaw County Agncultural and Horticultural Society was held at the Court House on Tuesday last, at 11 o'clock a. m, to confer with a conimittee of officers and members of the Eastern Michigan Agncultural aud Mechamcal Association. No quorum being present the meeting adjourned to one and a hall o'clock P. M. Resuming business (a quorum being present) at the hour of adjournment, President Parker stated the object of the meeting to be the proposed union of the two societies. Frank Joslin, Seretary of the Eastern Society, stated the views of their committeeas to the propo&ed measure, when on naotion oí J. J. Eobisou, a committee of three from each society, to be appointed by the Presidenta, was ordered, to report souie plan for the aotion of the meeting. The committee was named as follows : Froin the Washteaaw Gounty Society - Mei-srs. J. J. Robison, Greorge S. Wheeler, and J. S. Wood. From the Eastern Michigan -Messrs. W. H. Hawkius, J. D. ülcott, and J. Everett Sinith. On further motion the President and Secretary of each society were added the committee. After a short recess the committee reportad by preamble and resoiution, as iollows : Wheeeas, We believe it will be for the interest oï each society that they shall not hold their meetings during the same year ; therefore be it Resolved, That we, the Executive Committees of each society liere present, do agree tliat the Eastern Michigan Agricultura! aud Mechanical Association shall hold a fair next fall at Ypsilauti, and that the Washteiiaw County Agricultural aud Horticultural Society shall hold a lair during the fall of 1878 at Ann Arbor ; aud that their faits shall be held alternately therealter each year for six years ; and that at whichever place the fair shall be held the other society shall give their general attendance aud assistauce to such society ; and that all the moneya and proceeds arising fiom the holding of a fair shall belong to aud be the property of the aasociation holding the same, and subject entirely to their control. And the coramittee do hereby recommeud that a Sheep Shearing Festival and Horse Fair be he held iu the spring of each year, at the place where the auuual fair shall not be held for that year. The report was accepted and adopted, and orderd spiead upou the records. On motion of W. H. Hawkins, a comoaittae of six was appoiuted to make arrangeineuts for holding the Sheep Shearing Festival and Horse Fair this spring, as provided for by the preceding rssolution, conaiating of Je&Bup S. Wood, J. W. Wing, J. Everett Smith, W. H. Hawkins, J. S. Nowlaud, aud A. V. Bobison ; which committee agreed to meet at the Court House in this city on Tuesday, Maren 27, t oomplete tbe arrangeineuts. Alter which the meeting adjourned. The members present seemed to be sutisfiod with the day's work, and if all jealousies can be laid aside, aud the two societies work togetlier, as they should, we thiuk good must coma out of the arrangement.
