The Four-and-a-half Per Cents

There is good authority for the statement tbat the Treasury Department has reason to believe that the eutire amouut of the ii per cent, loan will be tnken before the meeting of Congress in December. One hundred and thirty millions of the amount have already bren placed, about half of which is subscribed to in Europe, leaving $170,000,0(X to be placed. Only $20,000,000 of the live-twentien of May and November are now outetanding. After these are called iii the trensury will commence on January and Jiüy, 1865, 6 per cente.
