The Michigan Salt Association is takng a in-w departure in the shipment of alt. Heretofore nearly all of the salt has been shipped in barrels, hut it i now proposed to ship it in bulk. A oontract lias boen entered into witb th Michigan Central Bailroad tor the ship ment of 10,000 tons of salt in bulk, anc also 100,000 barrels the coming season The Association has also ohartered thir teen vessols from the Saginaw River t Chioago and Milwaukee, witli a carry ing cnpucity of 80,000 barrels. Most o the salt blocks on the river will com meneo operations in the nest ten days.
