Hiram Arbuckle, of Eaet Montpelier, Vt. , in a fit of passion or insanity, shoi George Sliort, a Ind of 16, twice. He thon lcft hiin, went to the blticksrnith shop of Iris brother-in-law, George Bancroft, aged 50 years, and shot him thïough the nrm while lic was slioeing n horse. Baneroft started to run, when he was Hot again in the back, and, as lip was going throngh the grist-mill door, ho wa shot in the enr, wlien he feil dead. Arbuclil tlien went to liis house anc wnited till the oiïicers came. He then said tliat he wonld not be taken alivo, and shot himself throngh the heart, killing himself instnutly. Arbuckle was 3( years old, nnd unmarried. Short is stil ulive, and may recover.
