Extract from a letter from Deadwoöd City, D. T. : " The continued jumping of claims and city lots culminated fatally to-day. Early this morning a womaa named Belle Morris discovered that Green Irving had, during the night, moved a small f raíne building upon an unoccupied portion df her lot, 8he took a heavy poker, battered in the -Windows and assaulted Irying, who drew a pistol. j The woman ran into her house, secured a revolver, retuxned to the sidewalk and opened fire. Irving promptly replied with iüs six-shooter, neither party doing any damage. A crowd collected and separated them. Sheriff Bullock soon after effected a trace until the court can iQffáiieWooiíSuffilfTÍSuO); feu &. May, alias Turkey Sam, of Omaha, went over to South Deadwood to drive from a lot, claimed by May, a party of four jumpers, Slavomans, ff om Nevada, who were at work erectiñg a log Cabin, A few wotds were exchanged, quickly followed by a general pistol combat, diiring which D. O. Brodositch was instantly killed, Steve Oorsich shot through the body at the right nipple, Nick Millich wouiided in the neck, and G. G. Martin slightly wounded iü the head. None of the attacking party were injured."
