Bnuiet, a wiitor in La Nature, who asserts that, goiug into his garden one day, just before a storm, he observed the bees crowding into tbeir hives. Near one of tlie hives was a toad whioh every now aud then rose on his forelogs and made a dart, with snrprisiug quickness, toward blatlos of gnm. He was fonnd to be devouring bees wliich were resting on the grass blalesawaitingtheirchnnce to enter the hive. M. Brnnet waited ntil twelve viotims had been devoured, expectiug to see the toad's voracity pnnished with a sting, but no suoh resnlt ooourred. ïhe tosul was twice removed to quite a distunee froni the hives, but both times he returned to the spot in a few hours.
