A new grove of giant trees, recently discovered, 100 miles south of the famotis giant trees of Yoseinite, is just explorrd and described. It is on a line with the other grove, 6,000 f eet in altitude, Instond of a small cluster of thirty or forty trees, there are 10,000 trees, covering six miles square. Besides several thousnnd of old fellows, whosc age is estimated at from 1,200 to 4,000 years, there are thousands of young ehaps from 100 to 1,000 years old, and f uil of vigor. The oidor trees, being decapitated by slornjs and by weightof winter miows on tlieir bushy tops, are mosÜy overtopped by the juniors. Some of these fallen trees, 3,000 to 4,000 years old, have revealed underneath the buriod bodios of ancestral sequoras of similar Bize, which grew there 8,000 years ago - say thirty feet in diameter. Largo lakes and waterfalls are found along tlie route. The atteactions are so mncli superior to the Yosemite that it is conternpliited to extoud the route of travel to embrace tiiis interesting circuit - California Letter.
