We liave just lieard the particulars of n escape from instant deaüi which apears little short of the miraculous. About two miles below Albina, on the ast side of the river, Mr. Carrico lives, vhose occupation is that of a logger. [is house is situated i„ear the river bank, jehind which stands a high, steep bluff. 'he logs are hauled to the top of the jluff, and shot down iuto the river irough a chute. This chute is only a lort distance from where the house ;ands. Last Saturday Mr. Carrico and everal men were employed in sending own logs to the water. A large log was rolled into the mouth of the chute and started ilown. By some means the log did not get a straight start, and away it shot down the bluff like an arrow, on its "ownhook." Mr. Oarrico saw that the log would inevitably strike his house, and, fearing for the safoty of his wil'e and children, all of whom were iu the d welling at the moment, he shouted at the top of lus voice for them to run for their lives.
