- Our cotemporary oí the i. lanti Senlinel is the " man vot's got it," in proof of which read the following from that paper oí May 30 : "We copy a descnption of the plan adopted by the building sommittee of the new Court House. Oí course the supervisors were called to ratify the choioe of the committee, which those who came dutifully did. Henoeforth, the pockets of the tax-payers oi the county are at the merey of that committee. God help them ; f or rain is the hope ot help from men in the shape ot supervisors. The mau who droams that that plan of a Court House can be carried out tor sixty thousand dollars, or twice sixty thousand, is destined to be awakened by a disappointment. And what does the couuty want oí a Court House eighty by one huudred and twenty-seveu feet and nfty-flve feet high, with a dome one huudred and fifty-two feet high ? That edifice cannot be erected at less cost than one thousand dollars per foot from mudsill to pinnacle, and, with mistakes and stealings, is more likely to go over than to fall under that price. The committee aud their frieuds have a good thiug for life now, and if they can contiive to have their building fall, like the Wiunebago Court House, which it resembles, they may gOt a new lease." Hadn't the Sentinel better wait until the speciücations are completed, proposals adveitised, and the bids opened before it goes into conniptions over the "phat take" tbat building, committee has in prospect ? If the bids shouW happen to come within the $60,000 voted by the tax-payers- and understood to be the bottom dollar they will go- it will have rauted for nothing. The allusion to that Winnebago Uourt House shows special ignorance, the supports of the domes could uot be more uulike. Don't fooi away your powder by such random shots. The Ann Albor Scientifio Associatiou held its last regular meeting for the season on Saturday evening last, June 2. R. W.
