Xlie regular meeting of the Council was held on Monday evening with a full attendance of membors, and the following business transacted : PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS. Of H. E. H. Bower and others, for erection of atreet lamp on corner of First and Ann street. To General Fund Oommittee. Of W. Eastwood and over SOO others, asking the enforceuient of the ordiuance imposíng a tax upon saloons and billiard tables. Laid on table for the present. Of James O'Neill, for permission to lay plank crossw8e matead of lengthwise in renewing sidcwalk in front of his premiaes ou Detroit street. Granted. FHOM CITY OF1ICKB3. Citj' Attorney reportad in raference to the saloon keepers bouds referred to him ut las meeting, aud subinitted the following resolution which was atiopted: Resolved, That the bonds of Campbell & Eberhardt, B. J. BiUings, J. Wm. HangBterfer, G. S_haible, Juhn Heinrich, aud Geo. Clarken, dealers m spirituous and malt liquors, and L. S. Lerch, appotheoary or druggist, are, in the opinión of the Common Council, sufficient and are hereby approved ; aud the Becorder ia instriicted to certity the approval of the Council ! upon their bonds. The Marshal reported the amount of relief disbursed among the city poor during month of June to be $93.02, divided among the several wards : First ward, f9.96; Second, I18.8G ; Third, 12.00 ; Fourth, 34.77 ; Fifth, 112.01 ; Sixth, fo.42. The Marshal also roported five arrests made by pólice during mouth of June, eme for vagrancy, two for assault and battery, aud two ior being drunk and disorderly. ïlie monthly statement of the Treasurer shows the following coudition of the treasury : Funds on hand at date of last report, (1,511.96 iteceipta f rom June 4 to July 2, 1,152.25 2,664.21 Exponditures from June 4 to date, 489.94 Balance in treasury at date, $2,174.27 The monthly statement of the Kecorder, of the amouut of warrauts drawn, shows the followiug coudition of the several funds : General fund, overdrawn $1,927.02 ; General Street, overdrawn 81,149.38 ; First ward, overdrawn $89.06 ; Second ward, unexpended $26 21; Thiri ward, overdrawn $475.47; Fourth ward, overdrawn $273.09 ; Fifth warrt, unexponded $38.39 ; Sixth ward, unexpended $40.06 ; Cemetery, unexpended $8.88 ; (Joutingent, unexpeuded $1,115.23. KEPOETS OF COMMITTEES. Finance - Aid. Gott reported a hst of bilis agamst the several f uuds, which were allowed. Also, by same, bilis for costs made in six slaughter house suits pending in the Circuit Court, ainounting to 810 eaoh. AUowed, aud Attoruey directed to dismiss the suits. General Fund - Aid. Sprague reported in favor of coustructiug a reservoir capable of holding 800 bbls. iu the center of Main street ut the Crossing of Liberty street, to be "supplied with water from the roofs of buildings iu the vicimty ; also, for constructiou of a 500 bbl. reservoir at the intersection of Cemetery and Ohurch streets with Washtenaw avenue, to be supplied with water irom the streets ; also, tor erection of street lamp on coruer of Main and Chubb street, one on Washtenaw avenue, near C. H. Millen's, and oue on West Huron street, uear Allen's creek. Accepted and adopted, and committee authonzed to cause the work to be accomplished. The Recorder presented a statement giving a descriptioii of each of the Court House aid bouds recently issued, showiug uumber of coupons attached, when payabie, sample of seals, siguatures, &c. Ordered deposited ia some safe place for future reference. MISCELLANEOUS. By Aid. WoodrufF, that Aid. Gott and Page be appointed to settle with. Couuty Clerk the matter of costs in the suit agaiust A. Herz. Agreed to. By Aid. Page, that the matter concerning the uivil suit agaiust ex-liecordar Lovejoy be referred to City Attorney, to report his opinión to the Counoil at its next meeting. Agreed toBy Aid. McDonald, that the sum of $50 be appropriated Erom each the General Street and Fourth ward fuuds to be expended in graveling Detroit street. Laid on table. Adjourned.
