A gentleman n.-uurd Millor, resiwing at the comer of l'ark añil John streets, Secoud ward, and nged atwut CO years, was engaged iu picking cherries nt Mr. I'l'olil's, neér by, and while doing so a limb broke and he feli to the grouud, a distance oí only ten or twelve feet, striking on his shoulders nnd tlie back of his head. This occurred about 10 o'clock in the morning. Miller was taken to his residence, and Dr. Whedon wns callea. Whcn the doctor reachedthe house, and made personal exnmination, he fouml that Miller had suffer d a disloetition p'f the neck at the base of the brain and ítt the upper part of tho spine. He could hear and uuderstiuid, but could not speak. Dr. Whedon, on further examinntiou, found that when the man's head and neck were pulled iuto the natural position he could not only unclerstand nnd loar, but could telk as well. For about two hours the neck reinained iu its j looated condition, and most of the time persons were employed in holding the i head and neck in positicm, his mental facultirs leing iu t'neir natural state. Doctors who visited tho house during Üxe afternoon declared that not iu the history of tlic country has snch a case ever liappened bef ore. A dressing consisting of bandages and weights wns applied to the patient's head to keep the neck extended.
