A very boíd and skillful robbery was comrnitted in a New York broker 's office the other dny. The sales elerk had just taken iu a oheck íor $3,000 on the Lenther Manufacturers' B:;n!; and í?2.200 n 100 bilis, whieh he placed 011 '!:. counter by his sitie. The part of the counter where the sales clerk stands is partitioned oiï by an iron railing about three feet liigh, the iron work being wrought so closely that it would bc dillictilt íor a man to iusert one ftnger between the Èails. Tlie elerk turned to transant some business with the bulliou olerk, and a miunte later uoticed that the ii'.onoy was gone. A square jjieoo of the iron inelosure liad been cut olï, U:iviug n spiwe justlarge eaough to admit a haud. There was no clue to the thi f. Word was Kent to the bauk to stop the paymeut of the check, and thus limit the i lirm's loss to S'2,200 in greenbacks. An examiuation showed that the piece had been cut or filed oif. Tlie thief had carrietl tlie piece olï with him, and it is believedthat the irou wovk musi have been cut some time ago preparatorj; to some siich robbery, and that the piece w:.s put back in its place to ba removed ouly when an opportunity should arisc.
