We copy the following from tho Ypgilanti Commercial, relative to Ihe fair held in that city last week : The fair. in thia city, for 1877 wiil bo rmembered. lst, For unprecedented eutries- nearly 2,500. 2d, A dishearteuing beginniug, Tuesday and Wednesday, but au avalauche ot people on Thursday. The country caino pouring out on every avenue to the city, an endless crowd. The trains on the Michigan Gentral and D. H. & S. W, Railroads came groaniug with human weight' Evory inch of space on the fair grounds was covered. Near 10,000 people were on the ground. If a political gathering, 20,000 would be the figures. The oxhibition was unequaled. To give any fair description would take several columns of the papor. Floral hall excelled all the years of the past. Mrs. Workman and Rev. Mr. Boydeii are deserving the praiae for the bounteous arrangement. A sceue of massive splendor. Manutacturers' hall never appeared to better advantage. Every species of goods was tastily arranged. Agrioultural hall has heretofore given us huga growths, but this fruitful year caps the climax. The works of inventive genius, especially for the farm, household, and dairy, filled up every inch of alloted space. The display of horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, and poultry was all that could be desired. ThiB fair was the grand success we predicted, only more so. A gentle shower. Tuesday, laid the dust and made every thing lovely. The ladies of the Episcopal church had not prepared for the big jam, and on Thursday their provisions were cleaned out, and thousands still uuied. The graat interest oí the attendants upon the fair on Thursday and Friday centered in the " speediug of horses." We append the following summaries : In the first race Membrino Billy took the ürst prize easily, with ürplian Girl second, and Hunkidori third ; time, 2:46 1-2, 2:45 1-2, 2:451-4. In the 2:35 race there were three entnes, Biirney H., Dominion Boy and Virginia. In the first heat, Dominion Boy, who carne out first, was set back to third for running, and the heat given to Barney H., with Virginia second. The second and third beats were taken by Baruey H, The following is the summary: H. T. Eaynor's Barney H., 111 J. ü. Carter's Dominion Boy, 3 2 dis. C. H. Lewis' Virginia, 2 3 dis.
