A Black Hills Tragedy
A letter from Central City, D. T., says : " A fatal shooting affray oceurrod aere tliis afternoon. John S. Bryant, owning a placer claim here, claimcd the surface ground of his claim as a mili site. A. W. Adams,formerly correspondent of the Salt Lake Tribune and Chicago papers, nom de plnme "Old Pioneer" and "Cliing Boo," also claimed the ground by rightof pnrehase. They met cm the ground, when Adams shot Bryant through the body, then tui'ned and lied. Bryant, then drawing a navy revolver, üred three shots at Adams, the flrst missing. At the second shot Adams feil. Bryai.t, still advanoing, placed Iris pistol at Adams' head and sent a bullel through his brain, killing him instantly. Bryant is not expected to recover."
