About tliirty years ago a lady physician, commanding respect by hor social position, liberal educatïon and pi-ofeasiouaí ksill, was somcthing almost unkno",vn; to-doy thero are mimbers of just such ladies in overy largo city in tbc Union, and in Philadelphia particularly tlicre are some who are regarded as amjng the most accomplished professors of medical science, and who onjoy a practice worth from 15,000 to $20,000 a year. ïhis is due mainly to two causes: First, the increasing deaand for the professional services of lady physiciaus, and tho desire iminig cducated women to acquire a profession at once honorable and intellectual; and socond, tho rapid spread of an enlightencd public opinión, which welcomed women in a sphere of action which would seem to be so admirably adaptcd for the exercise of all tho womanly attributes. - Phüadelphia Prcxa.
