They state that 149 persons have been coufined in the jail during the periort immed ; their ofïeimes beirig ns follow : Assault, - ) Assauit Hiui battery, - - 10 Attempl. at murdur, J Büstaitly, - - . 3 üuiylary, - 2 Druuk, - - 23 Drunk and disorderly, - ' n Falso pi etenses, - . -2 Forgeiy, - Hlghway robbery, - -2 Hotel jumpcr, - l Iusane, - - - i Larceny, 26 Murder, - - l Kape, ... i Suspicion, - . .3 Threata. ... 2 Va,raucy, - - - 51 Witneas, ... 9 The inspectora say that they fiud the jail in good condition, the prisouers' rooms and cells neat ana cleau, the bods aud bedding clean and in henlthy couditiou, the food abundan t imd satistactory to pnsoners, and that the prisuners report kind treatnient at the hands of the Sheriff and lus deputies. No labor is performeci by the prisoners bringing any reveuue to the county, and none by them except such as " is necessary to keep the prison and the suirounduigs in a clean aud healthy sonditiou " and to " prepare the fuel ueoessary for the use of the prisoners." L- We are also advisedthat a member of the State Board of Uharities receutly visited and inspected the jail, and pronouueed it the best kopt jail in the State : whioh makes Sheriff Case " feel bis oats."
