IIow One Mouse Saved Anotlier JHousc Our attention was nttractod by severa lusty squeaks from the insido o a pai almost full of water, into which a half grown mouse had fallen. The alarm had harrjly died away when fonr or flvc miee appeared on the scène, and begnn clambering to the top of the pail. For several moments af! er gaimng the top of the paiL and catching sight of th monsc iu th. water, a squeaking confab was held. Tirst one niouso and then an other would oling to the rim of the buck et with liis hind lega, and, while almos touching the water with his nose, gqueak out consolation or advice to tlae immersed; but while all this was goiug on tlie swimmiug powers of the iinfortunate mouse in tho pail were rnpidly giviug OTlt. At last a happy thought seemed te strike tho biggest mouse, and, almosi without a squeak, he firmly fustened his fore feet on the edge of the pail, and lel his body and tail hang down. Tho drowning mouso Baw it, and, making a last desperate eft'ort for life, swam to the spot, seized the tail of his brothei mouse, and, amid squeaks of delighi from all the mice present, was hauleö high and dry out of the water and over the edge of the bueket. - Corinne ( Utah] Record.
