Paying The Piper
Pennsylvunia is now engaged in pay ing the tiddler for the nmsic of the July dauee of her rioters. A bilí has been introduced in the State Legislatuie providiüg for the payment of the military for services during last summer's riota, and other attendant expenses. The nmount demanded for the payment of troops is $200,000, and transportaron, subsisteBce, qiiartermasterR1 and medical stores, $325,000. The estimates of tbe coat of the riots it the Adjntant General'c Depurtment exeeed the above nmounts about $24,000. These amounts do not include abnut $70,000 already paid to the three months' and independent regiments from Philadelphia. The cost of the riots, therefore, is $700,000. The cost of the Governor's train, which he nsed in conveying hirn to Pittsbnrgh, Sornnton and other points of the State, is estimated at $10,000.
