Among the Commissioners appointed by the President f o represent the United ! States at the World's Exposition at i Paris, are the following : Massachusetts - Probably V. W. Story, the sculptor. Cunnecticut - The position was tondered to Francia A. Walker, who, it is understood, has declined. Anothor solection wil! be made. New York- Dr. White, President of Cornell University. New Jersey - Orestes Cleveland, of the Stcvcu8 Instituto of Technology. Pcnnsylvania - Daniel J. Morrell, President of the Cambria Irou Works. Miiryland - T. F. Ferguson, expert ia pisciculture. Virginia - William A. Anderpoi), of Eockbridge, to report on commerco and agriculturo. Georgia - C. M. ]5. Youug, on cotton. XiOUisiana - Col. Garrard.. Kentucky - Thomas A. Jenkinp, chemist. Kannas - Alfred Gray, Tresiilont of the State Agrieullural Society. Illinois - Samuel Dysart, of Franklin Grove, agriculture. Michigan - Prof. Watson, astronomer. Tenuessee - Prof. Safford, President of the University. Other appointments are still to be made. A French engineer returned to Paris from a honeymoon in Nice, and after securing a room at the hotel for his wife went out and shot himself in the Bois de Boulogne. His brido, after asking several times whether he had rettirned, went out to search forhim, and finally drowned herself in the Seine. Two letters -were found in their room - one from the husband to his in-la w, speaking of their happiness and promising a speedy : return to Epernay; the other from the wife, declaring that she could not live without her husband. - - - - ______- A Maine Postmistress was fined $117.80 for opening a letter passing through her office.
