There are four more chapters- IV-VII- of Williatn Blake's new novel, Macleod of Dare, and three chapters - V-VII- of The Return of the Native- a novel, by Thos. Hardy; Matches Morganatic, by Constance F. Woolson ; and Squire Paine's Bonversion, by Eose Terry Cooke. Then there are : A Triad of Superstitions, by Anna C. Brackott ; a Glimpse at Some of our Charities, II,; Some Uupublished Letters of Washington, by B. Scribner's Monthly has in illustrated papera ; An American Colony in a Normandy ManorHouso, by Margaret B. Wright; An Earthquake Experience, by Louis V. Housel, vividly describing the earthquake at Frederickstadt, a West India Island port, in 1867 ; A Trip to Central America, by Ellaworth Westervelt ; Dresden China, which iucludes a deacriptiou of the royal porcelain works at Meissen, near Dresden ; and Kenyon College, by President Bordine. The two seiials, "H13 Iuhentance" and " Eoxy " are continued, and the complete story is Su8au Lawton'a Escape, by Saxe Elolm. Noah Brooks gives Personal Reminisceuces of Abraham Lincoln (second paper), and Mra. Susan Archer Weias writes of the "Last Days of Edgar A. Poe ; " Henry King "Concerning a Certaiu Prodigal " (a printer tramp) ; and Prof. W. Gh Sumner of the current literatura for boys, not a very flattering picture. The poetry is by Celia Thaxter, Boyesen, Caroline A. Masón, and Emma Lazarus. The "Topics of the Times " disouases "An Epidemie of Dishonesty" and suggests special prayer for dishonest Christians aa well aa ainuers, and alao of "Fiction " as illuatrated by the Bible. Nicholas has a varied bilí of fare There aro two more chaptera of Miss Alcott's serial, "Under the Lilacs," and the opening chaptera of a new Btory for boys, "Dritted into Port," by Edwin Hodder. There are half a dozen short stories, while tjavel and adventure are represented by: Secrets of the Atlantic Cable, an illustrated sketch of the incidents of the laying of the firat ooean cable: A Monument with a Story, detailing the heroic deeds and endurance of Burke and Wills, the Australian Explorers; and Westminster Abbey. The illustrations are uumerous and excelleut. Scribner & Co., New York. The Eclectic kas fouiteeu well-selected papera, a fine portrait of Dr. Schlieniann, the Homeric Archeologist, accompamed by a brief biographical sketch, and the usual pages of miscellany, literary notes etc. The leading papers are : France as a Military Power in 1870 and 1878, by Gen. Sir Garuet Wolseley ; Spúutnueous Generation, by Prof. Tyndall ; The Sacred City of Japan (Kiyoto) ; Frenen Home Life - No. 1, Keligion ; Teohnical Education, by Prof. Huxley : David Garrick, and an Oxford Lecture, by John Ruskin.
