A correspondent writes us : " Can you put anything in your paper sbowing the liabilities of the bondsoien oí saloon keepers ? " We eaunot auswer bettev than by copying from the session Iaws of 1877, page 214, the bond which every saloon keeper is required to give : " Wkekeas, The said priuoipal hath coveenanted and agreed, aud doth hereby oovenant aud agree as follows, to wit: "That ho will not directly or indirectly by himself, his clerk, agent or servant, at any time, sell, furnish. give, or deliver, any spirituous or intoxioating liquors, or any wine, beer, or mault liquor, or any mixed hquor, a part of which is spirituous or intoxicating, to a minor, nor to any adult person whatever, known to him to be an habitual drunkard, nor to any person in the habit of getting intoxicated, nor to any person of Indian descent, nor to any person whose husband, wife, parent, cliild, guardián, or employer may give him notice in writing that such person has acquired, or is acquiriug the habit of drinking to excess, and is being iujured thereby, oxcept as a medicine by druggists, as provided in section one of this act, and that tie will pay all damages, actual and exemplary , that may be adjudged to any person tor iujuries inflcted upon them, either in person er property, or means of support, by reason of his selling, ïurnishing, giving or delivering any such liquors. "Now, the condihon of this obligation is such that it said principal shall well and truly keep and perform all and singular the ioregoing covenants and agreements, and shall pay any judgment for actual exemplary or damages which may be recovered agcuust him in any coart of competent jurisdiction, thon this obligation shall be void and of no effect, otehrwise the samo shall be in f uil force and effect." Au action may be brought by any " wife, chiJd, narent, guardián, husband, or other person who shall be injured in person or property, or means oí support, by any intoxicated person, or by reason of the intoxication of any persou," and principal and suretïes are made severally und jointly Hablo for both " actua and exemplary " dainages.
