The following resolutions in meraory of the late Mrs. O. 1). Ranney, of Chicago, were re ad by the Rev. Mr. Ryder during her funeral services held in this city at 10 o'clock a. m, February 28 ; At a meeting of the directresses of the Chicago Protestant Orphan Asylum, called to meet at the isylum on the 27th day of February, A. D., 1878, in recognition of the death of Mrs. O. D. Ilanney who died Feb. 25, aged 67 years, the following jpreamble and resolutions were adopted and ordered to be printed in the Chicago daUles and tlie Ann Arbor, Mich., papers, to wit: Wiikhkas, It has pleased God in his inscrutable providence to remove Buddenly f rom our midst, by death, our dearly beloved President, Mrs. O. ï. ltanney, who luis so long and iaithfully servcd the interests of this Institution, and occupicd the position of President of the Board for so many successtve years ; and Wheiïeas, We feel the loss of one so strong lp judgmeut, wise in counsel, and so ready to further the cause of Christian benevolenco and philantbroplc charity : wifch resignation and uuleigned sorrow we bow before this dispensation of the Divine will, with the full assurancethat she had an abundant entrance into the " rest prepared for the children of God " ; her long and eventful Ufe fulJy rounded and completed. Therefere, be it Resolved, That in her death this Board of Directresses lose a valuable presiding officer; this Institution a faithful and efficiënt friendjand the sisterhood of Christian workers in our great city, a most earnest co-laborer ; and be it further Resolved, That we do hereby most tenderly convey to the family of our departed sister our deep sympathies in tlieir great loss, assuring them that we will lovingly eherish her memory and bear witness in our sorrow to her pre-emincut virtues as wife, mother, and friend.
