That Dexter Charter Election
Id a brief paragraph last week the Aegus gave the re3u!t of the recent charter tlection at Dexter as reported to us, and as we supposed correct. But as Jude Crane feels agrieved at the statements of the paragraph we choerfully permit lnm to make correction as iollows : Dexïeb, Mich., March 8, 1878, Feiexd Pond : - Iu your editorial in to-ciay's Aequs, 011 the result of the charter election in Dexter, there are a few mistakes which I thmk you ought to correct in justice to me. There were not " three tickets in the field " There was but ona regularly nominated ticket, and that was the " Uitizons' Ticket," which was elected trom top to hottom, and that ticket was nominated by the citizens without party distiuction. "Judge Crane " did uot " head the successful ticket " and was not a candidate upon the ticket tor any office, and therefore he was nut defeated." My name was only put at the hoad of tho ticket by a few disafYoctod mon, who thought, or pretended to thiuk, that Ilarris Boíl, tlie recular candidato for President, would not enforce the law against selling liquor to minors and druukards ; and they iised ray name against my wishes and without my coiiHunf, while I did what I could for the success of the ticket that waa elected. I was not, thurefore, "defeated." As a matter of justice 1 ask that yrm puhlish this letter in vour next issue.
