- At the request of the U. S. Uommissioucr ot' Education 10Ü Calendara for 1877-8 have been sent to the Paris Expositiou, and will, ín the language of Oakes Amos, be "putwhere they will do the most good." - The " Crematio Physicffi Mechanica " orgies, uuder the auspices of the class ot '79, went successfully off on Thursday evening of tast' week. The procession - from the Opera House through the principal streets to the campus - was uuique and musical. The exercises on the campus consisted of rhyme and reason, speech and song, burlesque and bombast, closiug with hanging, shooting, and buruing the victiin, - the lattor uot exaetly a success. None of the participatiug júniora went out of the way to attack members of the faculty, and thus set a good example to seniors officiating claas day. - Eighty-mne membera of the Law Department graduating class uiarched to the Court House on Wednesday forenoon, were ailiiiittml to practice, and took the oath of office as attorneys. There was one lady among them, - Miss Bessie Eaglesiield, of Terre Haute, Ind. - ün Monday evenmg the studeuts of the Homeopathie Medical College, through Messrs. Franklin, of the graduating class, and Coleman, a junior, presented a beautüul goldheaded cane to Prof. Gilchrist. The presentution speech was feelíugly responded to. - Col. Burleigh gave the Plu Delta Phi Society of the Law Department a supper on Monday evening, at hio residence. - The Oracle- the Sophomore annual - cauie out ou Saturday last. The editora of this ueat-looking annual are announced as David Felmley, P. B. Loomis, Jr., C. S. Mitchel], Allen B. Pond, B. S. Waito, Frank F. Reed, C. C. Whitacre, and J. H. Willard. - Profs. Groene, Langley, and Pettee, accompanied by a party of senior atudenta in civil and miniug engineering, have gone to Pittsburgh, Pa , to spend the briei vacation in examiniug mines, inanufacturing establishment, bridges, eto. Arrangement was made in advance for reduced raihoad and hotel lares. - Some premouitory symptoms of a haziug epidemie having beeu detected, President Angell sounded a note of warning in chapel a few mornings ago. - It is understood that the resignation ot Hou. ffm. L. Webber, solicitor and counsel of the University, would have beeu preseuted to the Regents at their recent session had business been proceeded with. When it is given to the public we predict that the correspondence accompanying it will be spicy readiug.
