Detroit Market
The Detroit Free Press in its regular weekly review of the Detroit markets under date of April 10, says : The Wholesale mercantile houses of Detroit have bnen the scones of unusual activity and hustle during the week past. Merchante regard the outlook as promising, and the better feeling amoug them finds an echo in the romarks of viaiting merchants form tbe interior of the State. The movemeut in tnerchaudise of alt descnptions htie been larger than during the week previous. In dry goods activity was especially noticeable. Dreas goods huve led in demand, while prices on all classes have ruled steady. The demaud for groceries has been larger than known for soms time past. Suple urticles have generally ruled steady. Teas are fíuding a better market and are firmly held, low grades Japan at a slight advance. Sudara at the opening of the week were uusettled somewhat ; later the warket regaioed its streugth mid a portion ot the loss was recovered. In oils there has been a good trade with pnces steady. Iron and hardware, lumber, and agriculturul iiuplenients have met with uu nnproved demand and sales for the week were oí' goodly proportioug. ( iniin markets have beeu moderately active. Duriug the fore part of the week the movement in wheut was limited, but later a marked improvement was shown. Values for both cash and future have tended lower. Corn has met with but little inquiry, and prices have sutïered a decline. Oats have moved a trine more lreely, but pnces have not been well eustainud. li.irley and rye have ruled quiet and prices uuchanged. The receipts of flour and grain for the week were as lollows : Flour, 6,880 bbls ; wheat, 132,322 bu; corn, 2,478 bu; oata, 15,729 bu; barley 8,031 bu ; rye, 680 bu. The shipments for the mum) time wore : Flour, 4,205 bbls ; wheiit, 64,026 bu ; oats, 3,73 bu barluy, 500 bushels.
