- The Baptist pulpit was filled on Su'uday last by the Bev. Mr. Pope, father of IW. E. B. Pope of the M. E. Church. - Rev. R. B. Pope, of the M. E. Church, preached at Ypsilanti on Sunday eveniug last, exchanging witli the Eer. O. J. Perrin. - The choir of the Presbyterian Church, asaisted by Detroit and local niusiciaue, are to Siva a concert at the Opera House nejt Friday eveniiig. - Rev. Dr. Haskell pruached the memorial sermón ot the late T. W. Merrill, in the Fiwit Baptist Church at Lansing, on Sunday last, at 10 o'clock a. m. - " Fifteeu yeara of Controversy," iucluding 'he time aud work of Theodore Parker, íb the ubject of Rev. J. H. Alleu'n next Suuday eveuing lecture iu the Uuitarian Church. - The annual raeetiug of the Detroit ProsMary was held at Detroit last week. Dl. Browu, oï this city, was elected Moderator, and Rev. Mr. Richmoud, of Ypsilanti, Secretary. Dr. Brown was also elected one of the 4elegates to the General Assembly. According to the following paragraph froin the Evening News' Washington letter of April 13, our ueighbor of the Couirer has three strings to his postoffice bow, and as he diiily calla the roll of his favorites ( Clark, Tarry, Moore), he chants in a doep melodious voice, "O, I could be happy with either, with tother dear charmer away" : Hou. K D. Kinue, of Aun Arbor, has added ■" name to the list of aspirant for the posti=e at that place. Also A. A. Terry. (leo. '■ Moore, has been meutioned before in that nuection. Likewise Clark aud Chapín. Wark, Terry.and Moore are all Beal candidates, ld either one would ba acceptable to that gentleman, and for the same reason. Kinne d Chapín are the only independent canditates in the field. More are expected to-morfw- In justice to these gentlemen it should stated that they are all like Joey BagBtock 8'y- devilish aly, and swear every man they ■"eet iiot to let the Evening News correspouUet know that they are in Washington. The local reader will uuderutand that Messrs. Moore aud Terry have been at Washington onlï by papers or proxies. Clark, Chapin, and lnney have put in their appearance in person.
