A frightful tragedy was recently enaoted at Troy, Geauga connty, Ohio. A.U oíd man named Stroud, who liad quarreled with his second wifo and left hor beoause they could not agree iu regard ff their chilcTreh, carne back, nnd, íii ving up to the front of tho house, cnllod ont for something to eat and drink, and, tho wife bringing it out, ho nttacked lier with a butcher knife, caught her with liis left nxm around the waist and plurtged the knife into her abdomen. It cntercd just at tho left of the navel. He then drew it hastily ont, and, with with murderous desperation, plunged it again into her abdomen to the rigM of tho navel, with the blade up, and, turning it half around in the wound, made a circular gash more than five inches in length across her person under tlie navel. Witü a desperation which a mortal only possesses when lifo dependa upou it, the victim struggled herself free from her murderer nnd started in the direetion of one of the ncighiiors screaming, " Murder ! Mnrder! Help! He has killed me !" After' going ábout fifteen roda she feil down with her bowels protruding in a frightful manner. Tho desperate man then cut his own throat, but, the result not being satisfaotory, deliberately took off his hat aud coat and severed the windpipo and jugular. A neighbor rnshed to the spot, when Stroud struggled up, and, taking a small pocket-knife from his pocket, mude au attempt to strike him. Stroud dicd in an hour. The people wlio gathered aroiind Stroud before he diñd would have lynched him if he hail not been so near dead. It was proposed to bury him alive, bnt one thought it would polluto the soil.
