Thirty-one Feet Of Snake

T. O. Carter and Daniel Cleaves, of Antiooli, while riding horseback in the Diablo hills, ncar Round valley, saw a monster snake in a semi-dormant state a few f eet ahead. Carter, who had a shot-gun, emptied both barrels at the head of the serpent. When assured that life -was extinct, Cleaves measured the snake, and fonnd its lecgth to be thirty-one feet.
