All our storms are cyclonie in their character, that ia, rotary and progressive. Their type may be sceii in every littlo whirlpool that goes down the swollen ourrent of the ïïver, and in onr hemisphere they revolve in the same direction, namely, f rom rigbt to leít, or in opposition to the hands of a watch. When the water finds an outlet throngh the bottom of a dam, a suction or whirling vortex is developed, that gcnerally goes round in the same direetion. A morning-glory or a vine or a polebcnn winds around its support in the samo conrse, and oannot be made to wind in any other. In the souUern Jaemisphere, the oyclone ïavolvytj m tli„ ot'ner dircction, or from left to riglit. How do thoy levolye at the equator, then ? They do not revolve at all.
