- Treasurer Tolehard han filed his band and entered upou duty. - Lecturer Uatchell, of the Homeopathie College, ia heieafter Prof. Gatchell. - A new trieunial or geueral catalogue is to be published as soou as practicable, - by order of the Regenta. - Dr. Franklin, the uew professor iu and Dean of the Homeopathie Medical College, was in towu lust Friday. - The Regents ratitied the uew departure in courses, etc, but boxed the faculty ears for promulgating it preinaturely. - The Regenta appropriated $100 ior the pnblication in pamphlet form of Hon. George V. N. Lothrop's Commencement oratiou. A good use to put the money to. - Charles F. Field, class of '75, and for the last three years principal of the Manchester High School, will take charge of the Dexter schools next year. A good scholar and teacher. - The new schedule of professors and assistauts drops the assistaut professor in Greek - Prof. Pattengill now absent in Europe - and assigns a tutor to tliat daparttneut at $900 a year. - At the reunión of the class of '75 held on Wednesday evening of last week the class cup was presented to Ida Marguerita, daughter of Jerry C. and Adell Knowltou, of this city. - The Commencement oration of Hon. Geo. V. N. Lothrop appeared in full in both the Free Press and Post and Tribune oí Friday morning last. A deserved compliment to the speaker. - Charles N. Jones, after an absence of a year at the Michigan Military Academy at Orehard Lake, returns to the University next year, as assistant professor in mathematics. He is a very popular teacher. - The Toledo Bee Commeucement day eorrespondent says : "University Hall is one of the largest, best arranged audience rooms that it was ever our good fortune to be comfortable in on a hot sumtner day, and will accommodate over 4,000 people." - The title of Professor Jones, of the Homeopathie Medical College, will hereafter be "Professor of Materia Medica and Experimental Pathogfinesy." He resigned the position of Dean and is succeeded by the new professor of surgery, Dr. Franklin. - The Regents unauimously adopted the following reeolution : Resolved, That reduction of the salary of President Angelí in apparently larger relative proportion than that of the other Professors, and officers of the Institution is founded upon the principie aunouuced in the resolution of the Legislature of the State, that the larger ■alaries should be reduced more largely thau the smaller ones, and we desire ia this counection to express our high appreciation of the Viiluable services, efficiënt administration and earnest devotiou oi President Angelí to the University. The President's salary was fixed at 83,750, house, fuel, and lights. Prof. Frieze's salary was tixed at Y2,400, the other Y2,500 salaries cut down to 12,200, the 11,800 to $1,600, and the other salaries in proportion. - The following is an extract from the official proceedings of the Board of Regents at the reeent sesbion : To the Honorable Board of Regenta : Gentlemen - It having been represeuted to me that my coutinuance in the faculty in the Homeopathie Medical College might lead to fresh complicatlons, I beg leave to resign any claims to a full protessorship, and ask you to withdraw my name as a candidate for the chair of 3urgery. Respectfully, J. G. GILCHRIST. Upon motion, the resignation was accepted, and on motion of Regent Cutcheou, the followiug resolution was adopted unanimously : Resolved, That in accepting the withdrawal of Dr. J. G. Gilchrist from the lectureship of Homeopathie Surgary, we desire to express our appreciatiou oï his faithful services and gentlemanly conduct, and that we part with him with sincere wishes for his future success. - The Regenta have ordered two Boards of Examiners, one for the Department of Medicine and Surgery and the other for the Homeopathie Medical Collega, each Board to act iu counection with the faculty of the school for which it is appointed in the examinatiou of candidatos for graduation. It is expected that this arrangement will lease the " regulara " or old school professors relieve any responsibility for the graduation of Homeopathie practitioners. Thoy lecture to all matriculants and the independent Boards assume the responsibility of certifying to attainments and fitness to receive 'diplomas. Drs. Brodie, of Detroit, and Hitchcock, of Kalamazoo, were appoiuted examiuers for the Department of Medicine and .Surgery, and Drs. A. I. Sawyer, of Mouroe, and C. S. Morley, of Pontiac, for the Homeopathie Medical College. We shall see what we shall aee.
