An nmbrella trick lias been introduced by London thieves. The operator enters a jeweler's store with an nmbrella in his hand, haviug pulled down thesilk covering, without securely fastering it, i so that its folds hang around the handle and form an open-mouthed net. Into the bag thus opened it is not diflicult to jeik a ring or two, or even a larger artic-le, whioh will fall itilo it without the slightest sound. If to shopnian Baisses the treasure thus abstracted, he will run aftcr his cnstoincr, and, as a matter of course, the other will protest innocence. A search will cnsne, at the end of which the owner of the umbrella will bc strook by a bright thought, and will himself bring to liglit the desired object, apologizing in the blandest way, aad makiog merry over a joke which has so nearly, as he eays, assumed a serions character.
