A Horse's Splendid Swim
Oapt. Edwards, of the fishing smack Amelia reporta that wben off Skunnett, on the IUiode Island ahore, oae day last week, he discerned an object swimming off his bow which he fiually made out to be a horse. He made sail, but could not overhaiú the animal, which was making desperate efforts to reaoh the main land three miles away. At times he would (lisappear from sig]t in the waves wliinh roke over kim - the sea runnÍDg very ïigh at the time- but a moment later ouid reappear, and with a loud snorl nd toss of the head shake off the water rom his e.ars and eyes, and then renew ds struggle. At last he made th shore and, without pausing a moment, dashed up the beach, his long teil and curling mane floating outward in the ind.-
