rursuant to cali the Democratie delegatea from the seveml oounties constituting the Second Congresaional district met at Dean's Opera House in Adrián on Friday, August 2. Hon. Charles S. Qregory, of Washtenaw, was temporary presiding officer, and Hon. W. D. Harriman, of the samo county, permanent chairman. On the lirst informal ballot, Ira 15. Card, of Hillsdale, and Willurd Stearns, of Lenawee, having been presented to the Convention us candidates, the vote ntood : ü:ird. Stearns. Hillsdale, . 8 0 Leuawee, 1 11 Memroe, 8 0 Washtenaw, (i 6 Total, '2S 17 The uominatioi) of Mr. Card was tlien made aoanimoua. Mr. (Jftrd appeared before the eonvention, roturned thanks lor the uomiuation, and promisod a failhful dischargo of .the duties of the office if elected. Mr. Gregory, of Washtenaw, in accordance with the instructions of tuo Third llepresentative district convention, offored the following resolutions wliich wero adopted : Resolved, That the Democracy of this Congressioual Uistrict are unultembly opposed to those pet institutious of tho ltepublican party, the national banks, whose liills are neither a legal tender for debts betwüeii man and man, nor redeemable in coin. Resoli'ati, In the language of Thomas Jett'ernon, that nntional bank circulation ought to be stt])piesaed and restorod to the National OovtTiinient, wïiere ït belonps, and Treasury notes issueil in their stead, rudecmtible in coin at tlio pleasurü of thu bulder. A District Congressional Committee was appointed as follows: W. II. Tallman, Hillsdale ; W. D. Harriman, Washtonaw ; S. C. Stacy, Leiniwee; and H. Shaw Noble, Monroe. A resolution was also ndopted ínstructing the Uommittee to cali the next convention at Manchester. After which the convention adjourned sine die.
