The Metropolitan Elevated Railroad Coinpany is building a vault for the safe keeping of the hooks and rnoney of the company. Beginniag at the foundations of the sub-oeU.av, a solid pier cf masonry twelve feet eighfc inches square was erectad to a height of twenty-two feet, or one foot below the floor of the first story of tho building. Oa Mie top of tliis pier was Ii(i a il;itíorra oí railroail iron, dovc-tiüed tügether .ind securely bound with iron clamps. A bed of cement was laid on this, ftnd upon the cemeut heavy blue-stone ilag-ging, which forms the fioor of the vaults on this story. From the top of tbo pier the vanlt proper exteucs to fhe third floor, with separate vaults on the lirst and second ücors. The ceiliug of the story vault is of bluettone, upon which is laid ancther layer of r;u]road iron, and upon this again concrete and blue-stone flagging. Tlifi sides of the vault are forined of ráflrosd iron dovetailed to getbcr, wilij many bands of iron extend ing around tho vault and riveted to evevy altt'rniite rail. Ou the intorior and also on the exterior of this irou crossing are twolve-iuch 'orick walls. The ceiliug of tlic upper vault is similar f.o the oue below, except that upon the casing of railroatl iron a much heavir bed of concrete and raasonry is laid. The (loors are donble door1;, witli a spacc of two f eet between the inner and outer doors, aud all .ire fitted with the most improved luirglar locks. Tho entire struoture is fifty feet in height, and is snpppeed to be proof ngainst any probable nssault of either man or the eïements. - New Yark Èvt img Poai.
