A new flouriug mili has been built this summer and a fiue business house built by L. Babcock in "the burnt district" is uow ready to be occupied, besides two more, one by W. R. Reed & Co. and one by Chris Klein along side of it, beiug now above the first story and will be ready to oocupy this fall. Isaac Taylor is now platting an addition to the town aud uew resideuces are being built in all directions. The Reform Club of Chelsea is one of the most flourishing ones in the couuty and is about to begin work on a new temperance hall 40x80, to coat about f2,000. Rev. D. R. Shier hos served his three years here as pastor of the M. E. Chruch and left for Conference last híght. Before he left his heart was gladdeued by a present of %lö, raised in a few hours by his friends here as a slight token of their appreciation of his services, not only here but throughojt the State, in the cause oí temperance. There are quite a number of cases of scarlet fever here now, but only oue death has reaulted f rom it yet. The politica! pot is beginning to boil about here now, and candidates and parties are unU8ually numerous. It is impossfble to teil what effect the "fiat money" heresy will have upon the usual majonties in "this part of the county, but one thing is oertaiu, there are uot near as maiiy going to vote that ticket as the "irredeeniubles" claim will do so. iáneak thieves are operating in this viciiiity, taking wheat, corn, wood, or almost anythiug they can carry away. Detectives are on their tracks and will doubtless catch some of them soon. Wheat brings a better price than aoybody expected at this time, and a larger acreage than common is being sown in this vicinity, X. Chelsea, Kept. 11, 1878.
