- a.1 me ounaay Bonooi ot t. Thomas Church, the animal presentation of prizea was made on Sunday last, - on examinations made during the week in Butler' Catechism. The first prize "Butler's Lines of the Samts," 4 vols., was given to Miss Katie Mcixuire ; the second, "Life of Pope Pius IX," to Miss Einmu Slattery, and the third, "Mary the Mother of Woraeii," to Miss Mary Donnelly. Thirty other scholars were each given " Faith of our Fathers," and tlie two youngest, Mary Covert, ó years and 4 month old, and Katie Seabolt, ■ years and 8 inontli.s old, were each given a handsome silver cross. Father Van Erp made the presentations. - The Rev. J. T. Suuderland, of Chicago, who is to enter upou his work as pastor of the Uuitarian Church of this city, the first Sunday in October, has been here this week, rented a house (that lately occupied by Chaplan Day on West Huron street), and arrange.l for the removal of his family. - On Suuday last Martin Clark was appointed to represent tho Presbyterian Church :it the Detroit Presbytery, which holds its session this week ut Northville, with Dr. W. J. Herdman as altérnate. The same gentlemen were also delegated to represent the church in the Synod of Michigan, to meet at Adrián Oct. 7. - The semi-aunual meeting of the Jackson Conference (Congregatioual) will be held in this city üctober 1 j and 16, opening on Tuepday at 2 p. m. The Ladies' Missionary meeting will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. On Wednesday evening Prof. D'Ooge, of the University, will be ordaiued. - Rev. li. B. Pope will attend a Sunday School Normal Instituto ut Coldwater next week, and is programmed for a paper or talk onThursday, on "The Pastor in the Sunday School." - The Standing Committee of the Diocese of Easteru Michigan has decided uot to cali a special convention tor the election of a successor of the deposed Bishop. - The aunual rentiug of pews in the Congregaticual Church takes place to-morrow aiternoon, Sept. 28, at the church. - Rev. Dr. Browu, of the Presbyterian Church, went to Northville, to atteud the meeting of the Detroit Presbytery. - The annual State Conveution of Universalists is to be held at Lansing, beginning on the 2óth day of September. - In the absence of the rector, Rev. Wyllys Hall, Prof. Morris read service at St. Andrew's Church last Sunday.
