Whitman, of Ypsianti, who alone will receive the Bed Ribbon vote of the party," and adds, "Perhaps Mr. Emerick was nomiuated because he, too, is a Sed Ribbon man, having joined the Ypsilauti Reform Club some time since. We do not think the Bed Ribbon forms a part of this jolitical campaign." Our queation was no' aimcd at Mr. Whitman or his opponents, as we had understood alt the candidatos for Prosecutmg Attorney were of that order, but 111endad to draw out, if posaible, just how much he Post and Tribune correspondent meant. - The Common Council of Detroit has again stultified itself, and proved the unfitness of at least sixteen of its members, by adopting a resolution "directing the Pohce Commissioners to instruct the policeinen not to arrest auy saloon keeper for selling liquoron Suuday between the hours of 1 p. in. and 11 p. m." The law of the State absolutely prohibits any aloou being kept open or any liquor being old on Suuday, and it is the sworn duty of he Pólice Cotamissioners, the pólice forcé, and of the aldermen of the city of Detroit, to enforce that as well as all other laws. This being so it is worse than impertinence for the aforeBaid aldermen to vote for the resolution n question. - The Surrogate of Xew York City holds udicially that a belief in spiritualism or th ïolding iutercourse with spirits, through mediums, and acting under their direction, ndicates unsoundness of mimi, and that any undue itiituence exercised by Wm. H. Vanderbilt, through such means, to procure his ather's wili to be made in his favor may be fiven in evidence, or iu other words, 'that thé estimony tending to show the testator's belief n spiritual Communications at the time the will was executed, and that it was made under ts direct infiuence, ia admissible."
