On account of the prevalence oí scarletfever among the younger chiklreu of the city, the Trustees of the public schools, on the reconimendation of the Board of Health, have ordered that the ward schools, exoept the i'ifth ward, be closed until Dec. 2. In the meantime, parents and children are earnestly requeated to report at once all oases of the disea8e that come within their knowledge to the Superintendent of Schools and the Board ot Health. The disease is not increasing, aud it is believed that by diligence and care on the part of parents in reportiug cases, it will be completely under control and cease to be dangerouii by the time school opcns, December 2 We also cali attention to the following resolution of the Board : Resolved, That when scarlet fever, measles, or any contagious disease has occurred in a family from which children are attending school, such children shall be excluded niiinediately, and shall not be permitted to re-enter until they present a certifícate from the attending physician, countersigned by the Board of Health, stating that they are free from contagión.
