- John H. Black of Chicago, of class of 1878, died Suuday, December 22Í Mr. B. spent five years in this city in attendance upon the High School and Univeraity, and made a wide circle of frieuda. - The next entertainment under the management of the Studants' Lectura Associatiou will be given Jan. lOth by the famoua Camilla Urao Concert Company. The musical critica are uuanimous in their praiae of the brilliancy and power of Madame Urao's playing. Her company ia composed of the best available vocal talent and ia under the .direction of Mr ?rederick Luer, one of the most successful managers of musical entertainments in this country. Judging from the favorable reception of this colubruted company last year the night of the concert will find a large audience assembled in University Hall. - The Adrián news-gatherer tor the Free Pre has this item oommendatory of Dr. Frothingham's skill : J. W. Hyan of this city, suffered an injury o oue of hls eyes in 1862, while working iu the blacksmith shop at the depot, by a piece of steel striking the eyeball,penetrating neary to the iris. The steel came out after a time md his eye has gradually growu worse and he ïas suffered a great deal. He visited De;roit last aummer and an oculist decided that the injured eye would have to be removed in order to save tlie other. He visite Ann Aror, and Dr. Frothingham decided there was some substance in the eye that should be removed. Byan did not submit to an operation, and rlually camp to the conclusión to have his eye taken out, but acting on the advice of rieuds again consulted Prof. Frothingham, and submitted to an operation, and much to ii joy he was at onoe relieved and is now satsfied that his aight is fully restored. It seems hot a piece of the steel had remained imbedded during all these years on the inside of the cornea, near tha iris.
