The fiéad is of solid sterling silver xreigtiing eighty ounees, and bears the following inscription: "Presentetl to the Kt. Hon. W. E. Gladstone, M. P., by a few a.lmiring friends." The handle is of eliony. The ax is inelosed m a case of pöEsned ottk, lined witli vervet.
