Savings Bank of New York, which was robbed of $2,700,000 last fta.Il, have had overtures frúm rcputablo luwyers of that city for a compromiso with the robbers but tho sum demanded is so large that the trustees have declined to negotiate. The bank has not resuined business sinoe tho robbery, but intends to whenever tho seourities are rpplaced, either by buying thera back of the thieves or having them reiasuod. The Lcgislaturo has just passed a bilí to authorize the roissue of tho registered city bondn if the trustees ask it. As to the trading with the thieves, though it is neither more nor lesstuan oompoundingafelony, thoreappears to be no ecruple about doing it in any quarter. One of the trustees says he is informed that this kind of bartering is getting to bo quite an important branch in the legal profession.
