E. church Feb. 14 in thoevening. -The Bev. Dan Shier held forth at Union School Hall to a large audienoo last Sunday evening. Subject - temperance. Bro. Shier is an able worker and his efforts have been crownod with success. - The initial party organizad by the young people was held on Thursday evening of last week and was considered by all a succoss. About 20 coupies were in attendance and tho affair was an enjoyable one. - Geo. II. Cobb met with a severo and painful accident on Thursday of last week. While attempting to lower o. set of scales from the second floor to the sidewalk at W. H. Davenport's store, lost his hold and came crashing down to tho sidewalk striking his head and back on a box that was just boneath him wrenching his back and sustaining other injuries internal. At this writing he is very corafortable, and on tho road towards reoovery.
