Chelsea, Fob. 1 - Richard Beahan of Ann Arbor was here last Monday on legal business. - Representativo J. E. Turnbull from Alpena spent a few days bere last week with relativos and friendg. - Tickets for BelshazzarThursday and Friday nights are being rapidly taken and it promises to be a grand success. - George Waokenhut has moved his stock of goods into Chris Klem'a fine new store on the East side of Main St. - A. Congdon and Co., a firm composed of M. J. Noyes & ïi. Kempf have closed out their stock of miscellancous goods and discontinued that branch of business. - Theubiquitous tramp still continúes to annoy the nativos. The learned Solons at Lansing are now about to wrestle with the pronosition of turning these vagabonds to some account by way of earning a living or at least to stop their wanderings. - Esquire Noyes has " riz" on the price of plain drunksiu Chelsea. A few weeks ago an oíd fashioned drunk only cost about seven or eight dollars, whilo now the Squire sets 'ein to tho tune of $12 or $14 or about 30 days in the county boarding house. They do not indulge in that luxury as much as they did about here. -The owuerg of last horses had a trotting match' on the ice on the four mile lake last Monday. Four horses trottod for a purse of $18, and U. H. Townsend's pony got the first prize, but ít ia yet undetermined who is entitled to the second. They are said to have trot:vl a mile in something less than ftve minutes, but how much less no fellow can find out.
