I voncerning a ürollery ot "resident Lincoln's tliis story is told by a correspondent of the Journal, of Syracuse : "During the ïtebellion an Austrian Count ajiplied to President Lincoln for a position in the anny. Being iatroj duced by the Anstrian Minister, he needed, of ootrfee, no furthcr recommendation ; but, is if fearing that his importance might not be duly appreciated, he proceedod to explain that he was a Count ; that his fainily were ancient and highly respectable ; wlien Lincoln, with a mprry twinkle in his eye, I tappiug the aristocratie lover of tit'les on the shoulder, in a fatherly way, as if the man liad oonfessed to söme wrong, mterrupted in a soothing tone, ' Never mind; yon shall be treated with just as mufh eonsidoratiou for all that !
