- Tho Catholica obsorved St. Putrick's day here in the usual way. --Tho common oouncil, newly elected, meots for the first time to-night. - Tho Baptist Churoh is at present without a pastor, tho Itev. Wilson having been discharged. - Tho uioinbers of the union school lyceum hold thsir last meeting of the year at the aohool hall Thursday evoning. - The red ribbon club will givo an entertainment, to consist of speeches and tableaux, Weinesday oveniug, for tho boncfit of the club. - Tho masons held an important meeting here last week. A speaker from abroad was in attondance and members of tlint society wcro prosent from Clinton, Saline, Tecumseh and other noighboring towns. Ciielsea, March 19. - Tho new village officers have aworn in and entered upon their duties. - Mason Long spoke on temperance horo last Fridny night, and 38 gentlemen and 20 ladies signed tbe pledgo. - II. G. Hoag kas corumenoed digging the cellar for a largo tbree story hotel which ho expects to build here tho coming suuimer. - Two small boya woro playing in a barn near the Lutheran Church in this villago last Mouday aiternoon, and findiug it too cold thoy struck a match to burn some straw to warm them by. Tho fire spread rapidly and it was all that could be done to get out a team which was in there. The barn was owned by M. J. Noyes and oocupied by Frank Vanorden. Mr. Noyes lost the barn and a new cutter, all worth $100, and Mr. Vanorden lost a harness, wagon, platform wagon, and some supplies, all worth .$150. No insuranco.
