Saliiíe, March 18. - A. P. Wood has been confined to the house several days by sickness. - Tramps are íiumorous, no lesa than four claimed protection Monday night. - Sinith Hull haa removed his goods and ohattels into town and is now one of us. - A movement is on foot to give Eobert E. Frazer a benefit. Particulars nfcxt week. - The Lutheran society contémplate building a school house on the lot adoining their church. - Tiie Kev. O. Fuller of Ypsilanti [Episcopal) officiatod in union services at the Presbyterian Church last Sunday evening. - There will be a inaple sugar festival March 24, at Forbes' school house. The proceeds to go towards purchasing an organ for the school. - The club dance party held in Risdon's hall last Friday evening (March 14) was well attended, a large number being present from Ypsilanti and adoining towns. - A. G. Lawrence having sold his intrest in the hardware stock to John W. Huil & Co. will engage in the business of inaking tile and brick, having purchased the property known as the Conklin brick yard. - The tomperance people are discus8icg tho propriety of putting a ternperanco ticket in the field for the spring elections, and posters calling a convention the 22d of March are out inviting all friends of temperance to attend. Interesting to Tax Payers. - When the Superintendents of the Poor met and appoiuted Mr. McDowell to take charge of the County House, Mr. Duffy offered a resolution to make his salary $400, an ainount Mr. VanEiper, against whoso administration not one word has been uttered, offered to oonduct the county house for the coming year. The resolution was adopted, not however to stay adopted long. At another meeting held on Tuesday last, the resolution was reconsidered and resoinded, and the salary increased to $500, Messrs. Wilsey and Groen voting yea, and Duffy, no. It will bo seon therefcre the taxpayers of the oounty will be called upon to pay Mr. McDowell one hundred dollars more than was necessary, merely to gratifV Dolitical favoritism.
