March 18. - Soon after the Senatc was called to order, a recesa was taken, and upon reasaembling, a motion to adjourn prevailed. Objection was made to the admission of Senator Bell, of New Hampshire, appointed by the Governor to fill the vacancy caused by the expiration of Senator Wadleigh'a term, and his case goea over till to-morrow. In the House a great crowd waa present to witness the opening of the extra session and the organization. Only one representative, Mr. Jones (liep., New York), waa absent. The clerk gave Huil (Dem., Fia.) a seat and allowed the Iowa delegation to come in, Hia ground, in both cases, waa that a governor's certifícate and the aeal of the State gave the holders the prima facie rights to aeats. As to the State of Kansas, the clerk said he had not put on the roll the name of the peraon claiming to have been elected from the State at large, the State being ouly entitled to three membera. Kandall (Dem., Pa.) waa choaen Speaker on the first ballot, receiving 144 votea, Garfield (Kep., O.) 125, Wright (Dem., Pa.) 13, Kelley (Rep., Pa.) 1. Mr, Frye (Rep., Me.) objected to administering the oath to Huil, of Florida, and the matter went over until to-morrow. The f ollowing officers were re-electcd : Clerk - Geo, M. Adama, Kentucky. Sergeont-at-Arms- John G. Thompaon, Ohio. Doorkeeper - Chaa. W. Field. Poatmaster - James M. Stewart, Virginia. Chaplain- Rev. W. P. Harrison, D. 0. The drawing for seats was then proceed with, and at its conclusión the House adjourned.
