March 19. - The Senate passed the following, of which the first five have passed the House: To reduce toll on the Bay City, Vassar and Watrousville plank road; authorizing the Board of Supervisors of Bay county to receive certain lands from the agricultural society, in trust, for certain purposes; amendingaet 213, laws of 1875, relating to compensation of inspectora, etc., of State Prison; reincorporating Ludington ; amending certain provisions of the charter of Ludington; reincorporating Midland City; authorizing Kalamazoo county to raise money by tax to buy fair grounds; organizing the town of Concord, Otsego county. The House pasBed the following, of which the tirst three have passed the Senate: To va cate the township of Nunda,Cheboygan county; for the settlement of estates of persons absent and supposed to be dead; to aid the extensión of the Menominee River Kailroad; to provide for the restoration of certain state lands to market; to amend the charter of Ludington; to vest marshals and their deputies at county fairs with pólice powers; to aathorize the Board of Control of state swamp land to make an appropriation to drain and reclaim the big swamp in Bay, Saginaw and Tuscola counties. The following bilis were tabled: to amend section 3979, Compiled Laws, providing for the settlement and drainage of swamp lands by actual settlers; to aid tin the 'construction of the Port Huron and Northwestern Railroad, to aid the Alpcnaand Southwestern llailroad; as was also a resolutíon to grant the use of the hall to Prof. James E. Watson for a lecture on insurance and interest. March 20. - The Senate refused to concur in House amendments to Senate bill No. 21, relative to estates of perBons absent and supposed to be dead, and Senators Weir, Hewitt and Shepard were appointed a committee of conference. Most of the day was spent in committee of the whole. The House passed the following: authorizing the town of Escanaba to compromise and settle a judgment against E. P. Lott. late defaulting treasurer of that town, and his securities; authorizing the sale of swamp lands in Chippewa county ; reincorporating Flint ; reorganizing lloBCommon county ; to enable East Saginaw to provide for the payment of bonds. March 21. - The Senate passed the following of which the first four have passed the House: resolution authorizing the Adjutant General to compile and publish in one report the services of Michigan regiments in the war of the rebcllun; providing for the discharge of the dutics of injunction masters; appropriating swamp land todeepen Indian Creek, Calboun county, and for drainage; amending the act in regard to floating logB and timber; amending the laws relating to military f orces ; amending certain sections of the Compiled Laws relating to common schools; amending sectlon 1, chapter 137, relating to schools and to repeal the provisión relating to the election of school trustees by ballot in the Upper Peninsula; authorizing the town of Escanaba to settle with the lato defaulting treasurer, Edward P. Lott, and his securities; to restrict the powers of the commissioner of highways in Michigamme; repealinj charter of Michigamme. The House passed the followiug, all of which have passed the öenate: To amend thelaw relative to the execution of deeds by the auditor general; to araend the law for the collection of cereal statistics, to prohibit the catching of spcckled trout in lakes of Oceana county before May, 1881 ; to confer certain powers upon manufacturing companies. Both Houaes then adjourned till Monday evening. March 25. - Both Houses met last evening but tranBacted no business of special importance. To-day the Senate passed the following : to amend the charter of Pierson, and to provide for the compilation of the genera iiiws. The first had previously passed the House. The Senate, in committee of the whole, agreed to 20 bilis and joint resol utions which were placed on the order of third reading. The House passed the following: Senate bil changing the time of the annual election o the Michigan Central liailroad Company House bilí establishing a pólice court in Gram Senate bill amending act 78, laws o: 1875, relative to discontinuing public rcmds.
