Williamson, larceny in stealing a pair of pants from Perdon, ninety days; Mrilliam Robertson, samo thing and time, to Ionia. -The closing exercises of the 2d Ward School, Thursday afternoon, June 19th under the direction of Miss Mullholland' were enjoyed by quite a number of visitors, many more in fact than the small room can admit. The soholars with their excellent and ready delivery and discipline reflected graat credit upon their much esteemed teacher. - The School Board have taken a new departure in their method of employing teachers. Hereafter all applicants for position in ward and gramraar sohools must submit to an examination by a oommittee appointed by the Board Of trustees. The committee for school year 1879 is composed of Prof. Perry. J. A. Niehols, Prof. Chutu, and Miss Lucy A. Chittenden. - At the somi-annual election of Knights of Honor held at Masonic Hall, on Tuesday evening, the followirig officers were elocted to serve for ensuing months: D.M. Taylor, Sentinel. - The Courier is moved to speak thuswise of our newly-elected Duuiocratic Judge ; " Judge Morris comnienced holding his fir8fc term of oourt ia the county Tuesday last. We were auioug the lookers-on, and were eo muoh interested and pleased that we stayed nearly all day. Every move and act of the Judge seemed to eay: "I have taken a soletan oath to administer justice between man and man, impartially, and I mean to do it; and neither seotarianistu or politics have leave to enter here." We believe the people of this judicial district are fortúnate in securing a Judge who, in administering the law, will know only duty and justice."
